Teenagers! How would you like to learn how to sail while improving your Irish next month?

The Galway Bay Sailing Club is running two one week long Irish language sailing camps in Oranmore next month and are delighted to offer part-funded scholarships for teenagers in partnership with Gaeltacht an Eachréidh.

The Gaeilge Chois Trá camps are running from 9th to 13th June and 16th to 20th June, based around two hours of classroom learning in the morning and the rest of the day dedicated to outdoor activities ‘as Gaeilge’.

Activities will include learning how to sail, how to use a rib, kayaking, swimming, pier jumping, a céili and a quiz.

Qualified Irish teachers will lead the Irish classes in the morning while the sailing instructors, also fluent Irish speakers, have worked at Coláiste Uisce in Co. Mayo and other Irish colleges in the West of Ireland.

Now is the time to apply for a €100 discount courtesy of Gaeltacht an Eachréidh if you live in Carnmore, Claregalway, or Annaghdown.

If you wish to apply for the €100 discount, bringing the cost of the camp down from €290 to €190 for either week, all you have to do is write a very short piece of 100 words ‘as Gaeilge’ about why you would like to take part in the camp with your application.

To apply for the partial scholarship, or to book or find out more, please email Sailing@GBSC.ie or Training@GBSC.ie for more information. Bookings can also be made through the main website www.gbsc.ie
