Local people enjoying a ‘ciorcal comhrá’ at The Arches Hotel in Claregalway.

Best of luck to all the adult students who are beginning Irish classes at The Arches Hotel in Claregalway tomorrow (Tuesday) evening.

It was inspiring to see the huge interest people expressed in the classes, which had sold out by Friday morning.

Our apologies to those who did not manage to grab one of the 24 places available.

Young teacher Máire Nic Oireachtaigh, who completed a Diploma in Irish at the University of Galway this year, will be on hand to guide learners through six weeks of classes.

The emphasis will be very much on conversation and getting to use everyday phrases in our native language.

Whether it is down to Kneecap or An Cailin Ciuin, there is a huge revival in interest in Irish taking place from Belfast to Kerry right now.

The interest in our new Irish classes has been fantastic and we hope to add more in 2026.

The Beginners class starts at 7pm and the Intermediates at 8.15pm.

“Adh mór” to everyone in Claregalway who is embarking on a journey to re-engage with our beautiful native language tomorrow evening.
