What a lovely day we had today celebrating St Patrick’s Day in Claregalway.

St Patrick himself arrived with a Garda escort and it was great to see the festival to mark the national holiday return to the village for the first time since 2019.

It was brilliant to meet young and old, and to hear that so many people had an interest in the Irish language.

Thanks to the volunteers from the ‘Ciorcal Comhrá’ in Loughgeorge who helped us out at the information stall and to the three lads who treated us to an ‘agallamh beirte’ on stage.

We are looking forward to meeting some of you again at our new ‘Ciorcal Comhrá’ at The Arches Hotel this coming Thursday evening (8 to 9pm).
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
