Enjoying the ‘Piotsa Le Gaeilge’ night at Campbells Tavern as part of our Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations.

Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for our night of pizza and conversation ‘as Gaeilge’ at Campbell’s Tavern, Headford, on Thursday evening.

It was a lovely way to mark the start of ‘Seachtain na Gaeilge’ with people travelling from Claregalway, Annaghdown, and Clonboo to meet up with the regular ‘ciorcal comhrá’ organised by Niamh Ni Ruiséil at Campbells.

Niamh and the members of Gaeilgeoiri Áth Cinn meet up at Campbell’s Tavern every fortnight and were delighted to get the chance to practice their ‘cúpla focal’ with so many new and unfamiliar faces!

Our special pizza offer sold out in advance and it was great to see so many people from our own weekly ‘ciorcal comhrá’ in Claregalway make the short trip to make new friends.

There were free 12” pizzas on offer to the first 15 people to register with us on our Eventbrite page and we were delighted to see the event sell out.

One man home from Brussels told us that he is starting new Irish classes in Belgium next week, yet more evidence of the spectacular revival Irish is enjoying on so many levels right now.

Language planning is all about bringing communities together and we were delighted to link our two successful conversation circles in Claregalway and Loughgeorge with our neighbours who run the fortnightly ‘ciorcal comhrá’ in Headford.

There will be no ‘ciorcal comhrá’ at The Arches Hotel this week due to a big community concert in Claregalway, but we will be back again in the hotel on Thursday, March 19 (8pm).

You don’t have to be fluent to take part. All you need is an enthusiasm for our naive language.
