Do not be shy on Saturday

We are thrilled that the summer barbeque being organised by Gaeltacht an Eachréidh and An Bruach Thoir at McHugh’s Traditional Pub and Restaurant this Saturday, August 16 (5pm), is now completely booked out.
While we are looking forward to meeting 90 of you on the Tuam Road, we are also urging people to bring a musical instrument or to be prepared to share a song with us ‘as Gaeilge’ on Saturday evening.
Jarlath and Ann Brennan, who treated us to some wonderful songs at the ‘Ciorcal Comhrá’ at The Arches before the summer break, have promised to bring their guitar with them on Saturday.
Jaralth, the manager of the Claregalway Ladies Football Team who won Comórtas Peile na Gaeltachta in Co. Meath this year, will have to rush away as the ladies have a big GAA game later on Saturday evening.
We will have a professional sound system at McHughs and we are asking people not to be shy on Saturday night. If you have a song ‘as Gaeilge’ or want to play a few tunes, you will be more than welcome!
People from Claregalway, Carnmore, Annaghdown, Menlo, and Tirellan have all registered to attend this free event and musicians are invited to bring along their instruments for an informal session in the good weather!
This BBQ follows the huge success of our sold out ‘Bricfeasta le Gaeilge’ at the same venue on St. Patrick’s weekend, when Irish speakers to the north and east of the city enjoyed conversation, craic, and ceol on a Saturday morning.
It was a lovely way of bringing people together, making new friends, and practicing ‘cúpla focail’ together.
Language planning is about building a community of Irish speakers and it is great to see the huge interest there is in Irish language activities in Gaeltacht an Eachréidh and An Bruach Thoir.

Playing a few tunes at McHugh’s Traditional Pub during our ‘Bricféasta le Gaeilge’ earlier this year. We are welocming people to bring their instruments (or their voices) to our sold out BBQ on Saturday!

The ‘Bricfeasta le Gaeilge’ was a huge success at McHugh’s Traditional Pub and Restaurant in March. We are looking forward to a BBQ in the summer sun on Saturday.

Jarlath and Ann Brennan treated the ‘ciorcal comhrá’ to some wonderful songs ‘as Gaeilge’ at The Arches Hotel in Claregalway before we took our break for the summer.
