A walk ‘as Gaeilge’ in Annaghdown

Join us for a walk and a chat ‘as Gaeilge’ as we explore the quay, the ruined church, the graveyard, and the scenery around Annaghdown for about an hour this Wednesday evening, July 8.
Since April, a group of Irish speakers and learners in Gaeltacht an Eachréidh have been meeting up and walking together for an hour on Wednesdays (7.30 to 8.30pm)>
It’s a great way of meeting up with new friends, practicing your Irish, and getting some fresh air outside of a normal indoor ‘Ciorcal Comhrá’.
This week’s ‘Siúlach Scéalach’ is our first outing in Annaghdown and we are meeting up in the car park outside the local Gaelscoil (Eircode H91C963) for a walk which will take about an hour.
Our Language Planning Officer, Ciaran Tierney, explored the area two weeks ago and got some fabulous weather during a one hour walk with Patrick O’Flaherty, who runs the monthly ‘Ciorcal Comhrá’ in Regans of Clonboo.
You don’t need to be a fluent Irish speaker to take part.
Just turn up outside the primary school, park up your car, and walk with us for an hour.
Unfortunately, we had to cancel our guided walk at Merlin Woods with Hubert Jennings last Wednesday, July 1, due to heavy rain and winds, but we will definitely reschedule it for later in the summer or in the autumn.
Hubert is a qualified tour guide based in Claregalway and a regular at our weekly ‘Ciorcal Comhrá’. He has a vast knowledge of Merlin Woods, but we will not have a guide this Wednesday.
Locals from around Annaghdown and Clonboo are especially welcome!
