Congratulations to the regulars at the ‘Ciorcal Comhrá’ in Clonboo who made the short journey over to Claregalway to win our first ever Table Quiz ‘as Gaeilge’ on Thursday night.

There was an intense battle between them and a group of locals for first prize at the first Gaeltacht an Eachréidh quiz, hosted by local man Gearóid O Fathaigh.

This was our first ever table quiz ‘as Gaeilge’ in Gaeltacht an Eachréidh and we are hoping to run more in the future after a successful two and a half hour event.

This was the first time our committee has ever staged a quiz completely ‘as Gaeilge’ and it was great to see such a big attendance at The Arches, especially to have visitors from Annaghdown, Headford, Clonboo, and Carnmore in Claregalway.

With sold out Irish classes starting at the same venue on Tuesday, there really is a surge in interest in our native language in Gaeltacht an Eachreidh.

While the quiz was not perfect, it was brilliant to have two and a half hours of conversation, team-work, and intense competition ‘as Gaeilge’ in The Arches on a Thursday night.

The weekly ‘ciorcal comhrá’ at The Arches is taking a break next week for the Halloween midterm break, so we will be back at The Arches Hotel on Thursday, November 6.

Fáilte roimh chách!
