Sauna le Gaeilge

Enjoy a 55-minute session in a local sauna in Gaeltacht an Eachréidh and practice your “cúpla focal” at the same time!

Gaeltacht an Eachréidh is teaming up with Folláine Sauna, based at Annaghdown Pier, again to offer a special discounted rate to Gaeilgeoirs who would like to join us for a session at the sauna on Friday, October 2 (7pm).

Folláine Sauna is a mobile sauna founded by young couple Eoin and Rachel in 2024. Having built up a loyal customer base over the past three years, they recently unveiled a new 12-seater sauna ahead of the 2026 summer season.

The idea behind the ‘Sauna Le Gaeilge’ is that people are urged to come together and use whatever Irish they have for a 55-minute session. You don’t need to be fluent to take part, but you do need to book your place in advance.

After relaxing your muscles in the sauna, and enjoying some chat ‘as Gaeilge’, braver participants can then jump into the refreshing Corrib waters from Annaghdown pier as cold water helps to constrict blood vessels and reduce inflammation. The water was a very pleasant 17.2 degrees when we did our first ‘Sauna le Gaeilge’ at the end of August!

Join us for an hour at Folláine Sauna’s new 12 seater barrel sauna, boost your health, and improve your Irish at the same time!

This session is available at a special discounted rate of €5 – the normal cost is €15.
