Ciorcal Comhrá in Loughgeorge

September 18 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am Free

A man from South Connemara who has been nominated for the Irish Language Book of the Year, Gearóid Willie O Fatharta, will be the special guest at the weekly Ciorcal Comhrá in Loughgeorge on Friday morning (10.30 to 11.30am). All are welcome.

The Indreabhán native published ‘Mo Scéal Fhéin’ at the end of last year and has had a very interesting life. He spent years working as a Columban missionary in Chile and Brazil before marrying the woman he loved and returning to Cois Fharraige.

He has been nominated for the Gradam Uí Shúilleabháin award, with the winners due to be announced at An Taibhdhearc in Galway on Wednesday, 30 September.

Gearóid Willie will also be joining us in Claregalway on Thursday nights at The Arches Hotel from Thursday, October 2, where he will take charge of two conversation circles from 7 to 8pm. The first hour will be specifically aimed at learners or those whose Irish is “rusty” if they haven’t spoken it since school.

In the meantime, though, this Friday morning conversation is a chance to hear a man with beautiful Irish talk about his very full life working with people on the margins across the globe.

How wonderful to have one of the nominees for the Irish language Book of the Year with us on the morning of Oiche Chultúir.

You don’t have to be a regular at the ‘Ciorcal Comhrá’ to join us on Friday morning at 10.30am at the Galway GAA Centre, Loughgeorge.
