{"id":2118,"date":"2026-01-08T15:03:16","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T15:03:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gaeltachtaneachreidh.ie\/ta-na-ciorcail-chomhra-ar-ais\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T15:05:59","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T15:05:59","slug":"return-of-the-conversation-circles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gaeltachtaneachreidh.ie\/en\/return-of-the-conversation-circles\/","title":{"rendered":"Return of the conversation circles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1773\" src=\"https:\/\/gaeltachtaneachreidh.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/ciorcalleachtseoirse.jpg-600x540.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"540\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are three wonderful \u2018ciorcal comhr\u00e1\u2019 taking place in Gaeltacht an Eachr\u00e9idh, a place where you can practice your Gaeilge, meeting native speakers and learners, and have a bit of \u2018craic\u2019 in our native language.<\/p>\n<p>If one of your ambitions for 2026 is to practice or improve your Irish, and you are free on Friday mornings, then why not pop down to the weekly &#8216;Ciorcal Comhr\u00e1&#8217; in Loughgeorge?<\/p>\n<p>Whether you are fluent or only have a &#8220;c\u00fapla focal&#8221;, one of the best ways of practicing and improving your Irish is to join an Irish language conversation group.<\/p>\n<p>Every Friday at 10.30am, this friendly group of locals from An Eachr\u00e9idh (Claregalway, Carnmore, and Annaghdown) come together for a one-hour chat &#8220;as Gaeilge&#8221; and a cup of tea and a biscuit at the Galway GAA training centre in Loughgeorge.<\/p>\n<p>It is a great way of maintaining and developing your link with our beautiful native language and those who may not be fluent are encouraged to use whatever vocabulary they have. To join, all you have to do is turn up at 10.30am on a Friday morning!<\/p>\n<p>If Friday mornings do not suit you, perhaps you can join us at The Arches Hotel in Claregalway on Thursday evenings \u2013 starting again next week.<\/p>\n<p>Our weekly \u2018Ciorcal Comhr\u00e1\u2019 has been a huge success at The Arches since we held our first \u2018Pop Up Gaeltacht\u2019 there, attended by 40 people, back at the end of February.<\/p>\n<p>Every Thursday night, Irish language enthusiasts meet up at the hotel \u2013 which has strong family links with the Irish language in this Gaeltacht area \u2013 for an hour of conversation at 8pm.<\/p>\n<p>Our host Barbara Ni cDhonnacha is very welcoming and tries to ensure that everyone\u2019s voice is heard. The event attracts a lovely mix of people from native Irish speakers to people who are attending our Tuesday classes and may not be fluent in the language.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, you don\u2019t have to be fluent to take part.<\/p>\n<p>The monthly \u2018Ciorcal Comhr\u00e1\u2019 in Regans of Clonboo returns on Monday, February 2, which is a Bank Holiday. They took a break this week due to the weather.
